As Associate Medical Director at In-House Hospice & Palliative Care, Donald Rutherford, D.O. works with the patients and their families to create individualized care plans. He is a certified geriatrician and an integral part of the interdisciplinary team of In-House caregivers who all participate in bringing quality life experiences to the patient in the final stages of the disease process. Rutherford oversees the medical care for patients and consults with physicians and medical professionals who make referrals to In-House Hospice & Palliative Care.
He holds at Bachelor of Science from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI and a D.O. from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed an internship with Garden City Hospital in Garden City, MI.
Rutherford contributed to the Geriatric Pharmaceutical Care Guidelines 2003, 2004 and 2005 editions. Additionally, he is a founding board member of the Michigan Medical Directors Association. His extensive training in the assessment and treatment of the elderly makes him an indispensable asset to In-House Hospice & Palliative Care.
